In his Senate House address at Cambridge on December 4, , he foresaw that he would be unable to complete his work in Africa, and he called on young university men to take up the task that he had begun. The publication of Dr. Livingstone’s Cambridge Lectures () roused almost as much interest as his book.

James Riddell maintains that never in his life has he seen as much water as during his lone journey across Africa in the rainy season. This book is an account of that journey through east Africa, Nyasaland, the game country of the northern Transvaal, and part of the union. Mr Riddell is not a de-luxe traveller, nor a conventional one.3/5.   I was so excited to read it. The book that I have been reading is ‘ADVENTURES IN FARLAND’. WELL, it was real fun to read it. Everything in the book was very detailed and yet, very simple. I think children will dig it. So did I, actually. The book was good enough, but I think the plotline was rushed but afterall it’s a children’s book.

Buy Adventures in Nyassaland - Fotheringham, Low Monteith kg for R1, The first two books in the Lady Emily series were fun to read - they felt like a new twist on a well-trod genre. Subsequent books in the series were less intriguing, but I was still entertained enough to pick up The Adventuress at the library.

This most recent novel, however, was just bad/5. “Move over on the settee, Jane Austen. You’ve met your modern-day match in Abbi Waxman.” All of us book nerds will feel a strong kinship with the engaging and introverted Nina Hill.
